Types of Rhymes/ Reference

Cross rhyme
  • When a syllable at the end of one line rhymes with a word in the middle of a line before or after it
  • Examples

The sound flung on the air

The song is sung

Feminine rhyme
  • A rhyme that matches 2 or more syllables
    • For example, 2 syllable words that rhyme
  • Final syllable is unstressed
  • Also Known As: Double rhyme
  • Examples
    • passion-fashion
    • treasure-pleasure
    • painted-tainted
Light Rhyme
  • Rhymes an accented syllable with an unaccented syllable
  • Examples
    • distress / angriness
    • west / conquest
